YANRAN ZHU: editing/animation/direction/creative direction /set design/music video/strategy/
Hello, I'm Yanran Zhu, a filmmaker and video editor originally from Beijing, China. Since 2009, I have been fortunate to live and study in various Canadian cities situated on traditional Indigenous territories.
I completed my Master's degree in Film Studies in Ottawa, which laid the foundation for my career in independent filmmaking and music video production. In Toronto, I thrived in roles ranging from director and producer to set designer and photographer, often working with limited budgets to bring imaginative projects to life.
My journey also led me to a rewarding stint as a video editor and motion designer at Sid Lee Toronto, where I honed my editing skills during an internship before contributing to various creative projects for another eight months.
Returning to Beijing in 2021, I joined Motif Studio, a boutique creative agency known for its distinctive approach and niche expertise. My experience there involved wearing multiple hats in a fast-paced environment, ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality projects.
Recently, I made the decision to relocate back to Canada, settling in Vancouver. Here, I continue to pursue my passion remotely, specializing in freelance motion graphics and editing. My client can be found both in China and in Canada.
